Since his high school days, Ron has been involved in music. He has spent most of his adult life working with people both in tourism and in dance. He has vast experience in the entertainment industry doing everything from being an MC to Sheep shearing & Stock whip shows. Partner dancing for over 9 years, Ron is always keen to learn different styles of dance and share his knowledge with others. He lives by the motto “if you walk off the dance floor with a smile, then you’ve done it right.”
Salsa has taken Sydney by storm and Bathurst is no exception.
Ron & Irene have recently celebrated their 6th Anniversary of teaching salsa in the Penrith area. They also teach in Chatswood & Liverpool. Between them, they have years of dance & teaching experience crossing many different styles. Their love for dancing comes across not only in their classes but also in the social events they organise.
You will have a fun evening while learning street Latin styles to impress your friends. Ron & Irene were finalists in the 2003 Penrith Small Business Awards and are members of Latin Dance Australia – the largest Latin Dance school in Australia, who currently represent Australia in Salsa Congresses held all over the world.
On Saturday 4th June 2005 Ron and Irene will be coming to Bathurst to share the worldwide phenomenon that is Salsa dancing. Salsa is a form of Street Latin dance. Originating in Cuba it has evolved over the years to become the most popular partner dance in the world. Ranging in pace from energetic and passionate to smooth and seductive, it is a partner dance that incorporates a huge variety of turn patterns and flashy footwork.
They will be holding a Salsa Workshop starting at 5pm. The workshop will be catered for beginner level. For anyone who has experience, extras moves will be added. People from all walks of life are invited to take part and a partner is not required as there is rotation throughout the class. Bookings are essential.
After the workshop there will be a social dance night. During the social there will be a “Shines” class for anyone who wants to give it a go. “Shines:” is a form of Salsa that allows you to dance with or without a partner. There will be a mix of music played throughout the night including Rock’n’Roll, Retro, Top 40, with the emphasis being on Salsa and other types of Latin dancing.
This is the first of many such nights as they hope to make the workshops and dance party’s regular events.
